Superimmortality and forgiveness argument
More actions
One argument that has been offered for religions existence is that some religions can give people forgiveness. If this is really true why is there the concept of a hell-- infinite punishment for finite crimes. This is not forgiveness! What is ultimate forgiveness? Going to heaven because you believe in a religious belief system no matter what your crime is, is not forgiveness. When others doing nothing wrong in their lifetime suffer an eternity of punishment, this is punishment without a crime. The only crime here is the crime committed by the punisher himself or god.
What are the greatest evils that a person can do that has to be forgiven? It seems that the worst things that people can do in their lives is creating pain, suffering, and death in other conscious beings. The more pain suffering and death the worse the evil. But the crime of producing the extinction of conscious beings might be an even greater evil, but if everyone is dead then there is no need for forgiveness for there is no one left to forgive.
How does superimmortality give a better or an ultimate form of forgiveness? Superimmortality changes everything about forgiveness. If death is permanent then death is worse than if death is not the conscious end of the self. Superimmortality predicts that death does not have to be the permanent end of the self. If you kill someone but are part of recreating a consciousness that this person experiences again you have been part of the natural process of redemption. Forgiveness becomes complex when the ixperiencitness concept is considered. Superimmortality predicts that there are many possible potential conscious lifetimes that have the same ixperiencitness. And some of them exist at the same time. If we consider Hitler, his body produced a specific ixperiencitness. He and his conscious lifetime can be totally recreated by recreating the structure and functioning of matter that produced his consciousness in the first place. There would be an extremely large amount of ways to produce punishments for him. There would be different lifetimes for him. Many different sensepaths could be created for him where he experiences what any one did that suffered because of his actions. If you think this would be unfair or unjust to punish him when he, in this new lifetime of experiences is not doing the harm he did originally, then at the end of his life he could be recreated and punished then when he knows all of the bad things that he did. However, what would we actually accomplish in doing this? We might get revenge but we have added to the over all suffering that the universe can create. Would it not be better to recreated the peoples lives again that ended to soon with great amounts of pain and suffering without these terrible experiences and death. If you recreate the structure and functioning that their bodies produced before this evil occurred to them at least a large part of the original evil would be removed.
Universal forgiveness is the concept that for ever evil action a person does in a lifetime there are many conscious variations on this life time that does not include this evil behavior. If conditions would have been different, Hitler might have lived many different lifetimes where he was a decent useful person. In these different lifetimes no one would have to know of the evil that he created in another life time. This is a forgiveness that nature gives naturally. It is likely that every one has done evil things, if not in this life time, then in another actual or potential one. In this life time you are forgiven for all of the things that you could, will, or did do in another life. Before you say this could never be the case for you, these evil lifetimes actually exist as potential structures and functioning of matter that you own forever. The important thing is to make sure that these evil actions are not created in a way that cause the suffering of other conscious beings and their none existence. The evil Hitler lifetime could have been recreated or approximated in an awarepaducer where no one suffers because an artificial reality with no actual conscious beings in it is created for Hitler to cause suffering for. He might just be a brain in a vat but thinks he is nonetheless ruling Germany.
