The Landing

The term landing I think used have applied to the landing of a boat. Then it was applied to the landing of a plane on the ground. A landing is the most dangerous part of a trip. Even in the take off of a plane it is the immediate re – landing (or crash) that is the problem. Modern travel, through space and time, for our society is through the concept recreation. We simply remake the original people or hopefully a close approximation. It is simpler to remake people than to have them travel through outer space for millions of years.

The drastic switch in realities or environment is the problem. If it is not right, it is very stressful for the conscious unit. Many times they never recover and have to be put down or deconstructed for their own good. It seems strange to kill a conscious being for its own good. In the olden days this would never be allowed. You were required to sufferer through any thing that happens to you. Only natural death was allowed. They did not even care if you were conscious or ever would be conscious again. It was all about the body. You were your body and your body had more rights than your consciousness. Your consciousness only had rights in terms of your body.

Well, so much for break time it is back to work. We are people landers. We make life and death decisions and act like psychological nurses. It is a stressful job. But we were carefully selected for this because we have strong but flexible personalities. There are just two of us at this time. We do have names but we do not use them. We kid each other and call each other Landon. It goes like this: you're Landon, no you are Landon no I am not Landon you're Landon etc. “I am not Landon any one today!” is how it often ends.

You could call me Landon # 1 because I was the first person on this planet. Millions of years ago and trillions of miles away a space ship was launched there was no one on board. It was all machine and computer controlled. Its purpose was to look for habitable worlds. It has telescopes and other devices that could detect planets that had the potential to support human life. Once it detected a habitable planet it would study it carefully, land, and produce me. After traveling through space for millions of years damage is done, knowledge is lost, the version of me is not always the one they planed for. Consequently, my landing is not always easy. It usually it takes more than one try to get me even close to what I should be.

Once they get a reasonable version of me they make Landon 2. He actually thinks that he is Landon 1-- no body is perfect. The thing as we like to call it can only produce a small amount of people per day. So the first people that are made have a difficult time because we do not have all the necessities and luxuries we had at home. We essentially have to start a society from scratch on a planet that has many different features than the one we came from. We have the know how, from our planet, but not the stuff we had back on our home world. Every thing has to be built including the people. We do not bother having children at this stage of development because there simply are not enough resources to raise children.

The reason that we did this is that our planet was dying by the sun swelling up as they do at the ends of their lives. Bigger stars die sooner. We were not lucky to have a small sun so ours sun went nova sooner than most. We did not have the ability to transport people to other liveable planets in our galaxy by space ship. However, some scientists understood the concept of conscious multiplicity and produced computer controlled spaceships that they launched from the our planet with the goal of searching for habitable planets. And repopulating them with the original

The original scientist were the first to be recreated but this has many problems The original planet all its inhabitants are long dead.

How many cycles have pasted since then we are not sure. Once established we send other explorers off in all directions
