Consequences of conscious multiplicity
More actions
There are many very positive consequences of conscious multiplicity. The two main types are personal and societal. In the personal sense it gives conscious beings many different types of life or consciousness after death. It allows personal conscious control over personal consciousness. It gives conscious beings (humans) reasons to care for and promote the environment, the progression of science, and other conscious beings. It ties people together by giving then a universal scientific belief system. It gives people hope for the future. and purpose in their lives. In fact gives hope and purpose more so than any current religion.
The societal consequences are many. One is that it allows for conscious beings to become enhanced in may ways including consciously and still have the same Ixperiencit; still be a version of you that you experience.
The selfish moral imperative is a consequence of conscious multiplicity.
The problem with cryogenics freezing of bodies and heads is that it is based on the body theory of the self not on a conscious theory of existence. If the brain is brought back to life with a different structure and functioning you will have a different consciousness produced, since freezing causes so much change to the structure of the brain. The consciousness very likely will not be yours but an insane version of yours or an insane version someone else's consciousness.
There are many advantages to believing in the belief system based on multiplicity even if it is incorrect. Since there are levels of multiplicity depending on which itoprinciples are true, it is highly probably that at least part of multiplicity is true. But if it is not, singular theories are not true either. and universal and nonexistent theories are to simple or to confused to be useful for the individual or society. If no part of multiplicity is true a much more interesting and complex theory would have to be developed. Of course, there is the theory that there is no theory of conscious existence and can never be one because of the nature of the universe and consciousness. we will call this view the "no theory, theory of conscious existence" This is a pessimistic view if you want to understand the universe and how it works.
