It is written in the book " The Oxford Companion to the Mind" page 770:

If a human individual's mental life, conscious and unconscious, is identical with the functioning of that individual's brain, it is clear that when at death the brain ceases to function the mental life must come to an end. And if by the soul we mean the mind, then clearly there can be no immortality of the soul.

Awaretheory does not say that the functioning of the brain is identical to the mind. The functioning of the brain produces the mind or consciousness and ixperiencitness. Consciousness is a property of matter. When matter is structured and then functions correctly consciousness is produced.
