Conscious existence after death is life after death but it does not have to be the life that you experienced before death with the a physical body. Imagine being just a brain in an experience machine (physapaducer), The sensepaducer that is stimulating the brain does not have to show any body parts. The view can be like a TV view point, floating over in space from different height perspectives. When you feel something you do not see hands and the feeling is not like having hands. You do not need to be close to something to know that it is hot or cold, hard or soft, smooth or poky Taste and smell do not have to have a place that they are coming from. Sound may be perceived from a different directions than the visual perspective.
