Perspective argument for multiplicity
More actions
The Perspective argument for multiplicity can best be explained by using an analogy. We will use the analogy of the building, But you could use almost anything as the object of the perspective. An awarepath is like you taking a motion picture of a building. You can start the movie anywhere in side or out, and end anywhere else or at the same point that you started. You can stop filming any where and resume filming any where else as often as you like. But, we cannot see all aspects of the building at any one time nor can we see all the different motions pictures that you could make about the building at one time. The analogy is that our consciousness is like one of those motion pictures of the building. Our current conscious is like one progressing small spot on that movie. We would however, experience any possible moving spot of any motion picture of that building even if they are being produced simultaneously.
We are more than what we are at any one instance or awaremoment. You are more than what you are at any awaremoment because if you are only what you are at this awaremoment then the next awaremoment that your body produces would belong to someone else. This would mean that you would no longer exist. Even though we only experience one awaremoment at a time we actually think that we will experience more than just the current awaremoment we think that we will experience a life time or an awarepath that is a sequence of awaremoments.
