Can a person be in pain and not be aware of it? This is a different question than can a consciousness be in pain and not be aware of it? And the further question Can an ixperiencit be in pain and not be aware of it? If I do not experience it, I am not aware of it. If I am not consciousness of something, I am not aware of it. The consciousness produced by a person does not have to be singular and all aware so a person can produce aspects of his consciousness that he is not aware of.
