Improbability argument
More actions
One of the arguments against superimmortality is that there will never be two identical physapath to compare because of the improbability (impossiblitity) of being able to produce another identical conscious body (human). Even with an assemble line producing identical conscious bodies, that purpose is to make one identical body after another, there will always be at least some slight differences in them. This argument goes that since we can not make identical bodies we do not need to consider if they will produce identical consciousness and ixperiencitness. Superimmortality, nonetheless, makes predictions that may not be able to be verified directly, makes them that can be tested by comparing the behavior of closely identical physapaths. Not only does superimmortality make predictions about identity but it explains why these prediction can be made accurately. Superimmortality can also show why these predictions and explanations about identity of consciousness producing bodies are logically based, and coherent with scientific knowledge and principles.
A scientific theory should be able to predict and explain as much as possible about nature without using supernatural elements or concepts.
