Double split and reconnection body experiment

From Aware Theory

Double split and reconnection body experiment is the name for an experiment where there are to begin with two continuing identical replicas. This is a type of replica where the two replicas have continuing identical structure and functioning over a period of time. The second step is the splitting of the two specific types of replicas in half so the each half has one eye one half of the brain, one arm, one leg etc. In other words split down the top of the head to in between the legs. The third step is in recombining the one half of first replica to the other half or the second replica and visa versa. The end goal is to have again two continuing identically functioning replicas that continue to have identical structure and functioning. If the experiment is carried out correctly the resulting replicas will be producing identical behavior and report being the same person as before the split and recombination. We will not go into to it here but by other proofs we can show there is very good evidence that their bodies are producing identical consciousnesses. The question is what happens to the unique "Me"? We can ask a number of questions about the "me" concept here. Do the new split and recombined replicas have a me? if not what happened to them? Are there now new me's? How can we scientifically tell what is happening to the "me" when we can not see or have any way to evidence of its existence. People frequently tie the "me" concept to object identity: if its not the same body it is not the same me.

Lets compare hypothesis: Superimmortality predicts that there is no "Me" in either replica before the experiment and still no "me's" after the experiment. The atheist position is that there were "me's" in both the replicas before the experiment and they were different. If the "me's" were the same then it is a definitional error because by definition there can only be one me at a time. As it is often pointed out the "me" can be looked as "object identity" not as a "supernatural thing" like a soul. Object identity is destroyed in this experiment. It then would seem logical that the two different "me's" that were in the original replicas have been destroyed as well. It is often predicted by thinkers that continuity and continuousness is what is necessary in "me" or object identity over time. It seems that "me" or object identity over time is just a mental construct of a consciousness to distinguish between ever changing things in reality.

You might object that this experiment can never be carried out because of the complexity of the experiment. What I can counter with is asking is the body of a human a physical thing following physical laws or is it a physical and supernatural thing that does not have to follow natural physical laws? If you say there is something supernatural involved I have the right to ask for proof of the body being supernaturally influenced. If you supply no proof Then I reference all the evidence that science has for the body being a physical entity and not supernatural. As a physical object I can reference simpler experiments and through inference and induction come to the same conclusion. Examples: take two identical radios playing the same song cut them in half and rejoin them and then recombine them so that they are now functioning identically they will be producing the same song as they were before. We now can increase the complexity of the experiment by using a TV same results. we repeat the experiment using a more complex system a computer the results are always the same no matter how complex the objects used are. But you object these are electronic devices a person is a biological. We can do the same process starting with simple nervous systems and adding complexity. It may be that genitically we can produce brains that are easily dividable specifically for the experiment.
