When a person is dead his body no longer produces consciousness. A conscious human is a human body that is producing consciousness. A conscious human does not have to be continuously conscious because there are periods like sleep or temporary coma when a person may not be conscious. Humans can be alive but not conscious. Human bodies can exist but not be alive nor conscious.
