Coherence

Coherence is the ability to fit together without contradicting. The concept of coherence is important in mathematics and science because you do not want contradicting facts or theories without an underlying scientific explanation. When you have the case of both P and not P being true you have a contradiction. If you have to make a choice between P or not P being the better choice, because one is true and the other is not true, you can't. There are many cases in science and mathematics like this. But what makes science coherent is the fact that science explains why this is happening or at least is trying to. See coherence argument
