Continuing survival has two view points. From your own personal perspective, it means that you continue to experience your life or you experience some consciousness. From other conscious beings perspective it means continued appropriate behavior. In other words you are not acting like you are dead or in a coma. They have no ideas if you are actually conscious or not. So what is necessary for them to think that you are alive is not sufficient for your actual conscious survival.

Your continuing survival (from your perspective) requires you being conscious, at least intermittently.
