The body is you theory
More actions
Your body is you theory. Your body can only produce a consciousness that you experience no matter what the structure and functioning is produced by the body
What are the consequences of the theory you are your body rather than the theory or science of superimmortality that you are a grouping of structures and functioning of matter?
If the body theory does not need to use the structure and functioning of matter as an aid in determining the self or personal identity then no matter what structure and functioning your body produces at any time this will be you. The structure and functioning of the body determines behavior. If you are your body and not the structure and functioning of the body then any structure and functioning that your body produces should produce a consciousness that you experience. If your body does not produce a consciousness that you experience
Reductio ad absurdum argument against the body is you hypothesis: If you are your body without any limitations on structure and functioning of this body then since your body can, through a number of possible modifications to structure and functioning produce any experimentally required, desired, structure and functioning (physapath), thus any possible behaviorpath. All of your memories, skills, abilities, knowledge, self identity, self knowledge, personality, your whole behavior portfolio, can be changed by changing the structure and functioning of the same body enough.
conscious portfolio can be replaced with different memories, skills, abilities, knowledge, self identity self knowledge personality
What property can you give the body beside the concept of structure and functioning restrictions to avoid this problem? continuity will not work because there can be as gradual change as desired in consciousness and you can still eventually produce any other consciousness because of a slow change in the physapath of the body
Continuousness of consciousness alone will not work because the body can be continuously conscious or at least most of the time conscious and alive and change can still occur.
It would appear that there would have to be some supernatural something to tie the self together into one body and no others and that is permanently destroyed at death.
