Existentialism: despair
More actions
Despair can be defined by existentialism as a loss of hope due to a perceived loss of personal identity. When there is just one conscious version of a person defined by a singular body, and when this self defined by its behavior does not live up to ones needs and desires one can feel unfulfilled. Without knowledge of how to accomplish this desired behavior self despair can set in. But when the principles of superimmortality are understood and applied, the despair of not producing a perfect life are minimized because your current life is but one of many potential lives that you will experience that do not all have to meet some particular standard. Your current life can add to the production of the desired future lives that you experience. From your "despair" about your current life can come an understanding of how to make your future lives better.
