The goals that your moral system is based on

A person or society moral sysem will depend on the goals that the person or society want to acomplish. One goal system will be based on making gods or the “powers that be” happy which is what many religion’s moral systems are based on (at least indirectly).

If a person only has one short lifetime to consciously exist in his moral system can be based on just making the most out of this one short life and to make it last as long as possible. However, even when a person believes this is true he oftens chooses to sacrifice his better quality life so that others can have a better life. And often a person will even sacrifice his life to save or extend the lifespan of others. We have developed these behavioral inclinations in order to accomplish the goal of raising children successfully and getting our group or society to survive the hardships that nature creates. A possible goal under this belief system is using technology to extend the life time of individuals. This will likely require the survival of a society that strives toward the advancement of knowledge and technology.

Superimmortality gives a completely different perspective of personal conscious survival. Based on the science of superimmortality there can be different personal goals and different societal goals. A society can not desire to survive but the people in a society can desire or wish that it will continue to exist and even thrive. A society can have many different structures and directions that it is progressing or digressing toward.
