The goals that your moral system is based on

A person or society moral sysem will depend on the goals that the person or society want to acomplish. One goal system will be based on making gods or the “powers that be” happy which is what many religion’s moral systems are based on (at least indirectly).

God based moral systems

One problem with god based morals systems is that anyone can say that they are communicating with god and thus knows how god wants pople to behave. Thus there are many religions and many religion based moral systems. Many people are good and caring and try to do the best they can do under the environmental circumstances they experience. However, there are also many people that try to take advantage of their environment and the people that they can convince to do as they wish. They can be themselves directed by many different belief systems such as religions or the idea that they have only one life to live and they want to live as long and as good a life as possible even if it makes other people lives shorter or more difficult.

Religious based moral systems

If there are no gods, which at this time there does not appear to be, people still have the need to believe in a caring god that will give them a good life after death, if they follow the proclaimed rules of the correct religion. The current anti-science direction of many religions is a detriment to human society ability to survive and make better lives for people. The fact is scientific knowledge disproves many of the principles that religions are based on. If life after death is only possible if your religion is true and science shows your religion is false it seems to make sense to fight against science and its advancement. Also many people have a hard time changing their belief system when they have been indoctrinated into it since birth. The people that make their living pushing their religious belief systems will have to learn a new skill or be unemployed if their religion dies. The goal in this case is keep the religion going even if not true or positive for individual or society.

There are nonetheless good caring people that actually believe that their religion is true and good. They actually believe that if they get someone to believe in their religion that they are doing a good thing for them and society in general. If god is in charge and is all good, knowing, and powerful, Things must be the way good want them to be or god is coming back soon to fix everything that has gone wrong. Maybe a nice thought but this belief is actually leding us down the wrong path. If we and our society wants to survive, prosper, and have have good lives

The moral systems based on making the most of one short lifetime

If a person only has one short lifetime to consciously exist in his moral system can be based on just making the most out of this one short life and to make it last as long as possible. However, even when a person believes this is true he oftens chooses to sacrifice his better quality life so that others can have a better life. And often a person will even sacrifice his life to save or extend the lifespan of others. We have developed these behavioral inclinations in order to accomplish the goal of raising children successfully and getting our group or society to survive the hardships that nature creates. A possible goal under this belief system is using technology to extend the life time of individuals. This will likely require the survival of a society that strives toward the advancement of knowledge and technology.

The science of superimmortality effect on morals systems

Superimmortality gives a completely different perspective of personal conscious survival. Based on the science of superimmortality there can be different personal goals and different societal goals. A society can not desire to survive but the people in a society can desire or wish that it will continue to exist and even thrive. A society can have many different structures and directions that it is progressing or digressing toward.
