Simple materialism
Simple materialism [[1]] ties a specific brain to a specific consciousness and ixperiencitness. There are many problems with Simple materialism. It makes a incoherent scientific theory. It explains and predicts poorly. It is less useful than Structural Functional Materialism. It makes life after death nearly impossible.
Simple materialism is what you get when you first start believing that the brain is responsible for consciousness but have to little knowledge to understand the larger scientific picture. The brain does not directly produce a specific consciousness (a dead brain still exists but does not produce consciousness because it is not functioning in the right ways). Thus a specific brain may or may not produce the structure and functioning that is required to produce a specific consciousness. The structure and functioning of the brain is different from the programing of a computer because a computer processes a few bits of information very fast at a time, and brain process trillions of bits of information at a time but at a slower rate.
Structural Functional Materialism ties the structure and functioning of the brain to consciousness and ixperiencitness. A specific grouping of structures and functionings of matter will produce to a specific consciousness and an even larger grouping of structures and functionings will produce the same ixperiencitness
